The power of small habits in leadership
Do you know the phrase: "It's the power of habit"?
At first it comes with a negative connotation, but it doesn't have to! Because our lives are complex, we constantly have to make decisions and habits often take these away from us because they work automatically. Through this automation effect, we have to think less in everyday life and thus have more drive to take care of important things.
In short, habits are mental shortcuts that we have acquired through experience. How can you use this now for yourself, your business and your team? Remember: the practical way to change who we are is to change what we do.
☝️Du don't achieve goals through daily habits by sprinting. If you ran all the time, you'd run out of energy after just a few days to pursue the goal of your journey. Düdüm. So not only is it important to build positive habits, but it also plays a big role in identifying and overcoming negative habits. Studies have shown that it takes an average of 66 days to establish a new habit. Whew. Now how do we manage to perform actions continuously every day for such a long period of time?
👉Clearly define intentions and have a plan for when and where to perform the new behavior. Ex: I will read more is too vague. Better: at 9pm, before I go to bed, I will read 30 min in bed every day. Many believe they lack motivation, in reality they lack clarity!
👉Stable habits, need a stable environment where everything has its place and use.
👉 To keep at it, written documentation helps.
👉 The brain always follows the law of least resistance. The less energy required for a new habit, the more likely it is to become ingrained.
👉The cardinal rule of behavior change: What is rewarded is repeated. What is punished is avoided. So we want and need reward. Let's do this!
👉 Book tip: James Clear "Atomic Habits".
Have fun trying it out!
